New Delhi, September 26: The Janta Bhet Karyakram commenced at Rikzing Choling Monastery, Chungthang wherein Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang met and interacted with the people of Chungthang.
‘Janta Bhet Karyakram’ is a unique initiative of the SKM Government to bring governance at the doorstep of Sikkimese people. The Chief Chief Minister visits every constituency of Sikkim and interacts with each member of the public, listening to their problems and grievances and providing on-the-spot solutions. The visit per constituency may take 2-3 days or even more depending on the number of visitors. The Chief Minister is assisted by the officers from the state Government and the district administration
Upon his arrival at the monastery in North Sikkim, the Chief Minister offered prayers for the wellbeing of the general public. He also addressed the grievances regarding the delay of the monastery's construction. He assured assistance for the completion of the construction and urged the concerned officials to promptly look into the matter and asked that they take immediate action.
A brief programme was held as part of the "Model Energy Efficient Village Campaign", under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, where beneficiaries were distributed LED Bulbs by the Chief Minister. The LED bulbs were handed over to the Panchayats of wards under Chungthang block. The distribution programme was organised by the Power Department, State Designated Agency, Government of Sikkim. A total of five LED lights per household will be dispatched to a total of 370 households of Chungthang.
Earlier, on his arrival, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed by the public along with a guard of honour at Peigong, Chungthang.
On his way to North Sikkim, Chief Minister Tamang also inaugurated the Chatten ll Hydro Power Plant at Chatten, Lachen village.The project was developed by Sikkim Power Development Corporation Limited (SPDCL).
The CM in his address highlighted the importance of the project in the sustainable development and economic welfare of the state. Speaking on the Janta Bhet Karyakram, he assured to address the grievances of the public during his four-day visit.
The Hydro Electric Project (HEP), with 2×1.50 MW capacity, envisages utilization of water of Chagyachu river.
Further, the Chief Minister also visited Angora Rabit farm at Rabum Lachen. During the visit, he toured the demonstration of different by-products of Yak, Sheep & Rabbit exhibited at the farm. The farm works towards the conservation of Angora Rabbit and it further sustains the livelihood of local self help groups through its various products. The Chief Minister also interacted with the employees of the farm, particularly those employed under the One Family One Job scheme.
After successful completion of the engagements at Chungthang and Chatten, Chief Minister PS Tamang was accorded a grand reception at Lachen by the Pipons, officials and public in the late evening.
